When you live in the Sandhills, you will find there is always something going on for the whole family from golf, to live music, to festivals and so much more!   With so much to choose from, it was hard to narrow our list down to our five favorite things to do; but we think we captured the best below.

Musicians and singersFirst Friday/Live After 5

Friday night live music is something residents of the Sandhills look forward to from spring through early fall.  Southern Pines offers us First Friday and Pinehurst offers Live After 5.  Luckily for us, the towns coordinate the nights of their events, so you don’t have to choose one over the other.  Get ready to dance, enjoy the music, and have dinner, drinks, and treats with local food trucks and vendors.

Longleaf Golf & Family Club, a Dan Maples designed course, is home to U.S. Kids Golf Academy who hosts the World Championships for competitive kids age 12 and under.  Kids from all over the world come to play and visit the Sandhills with their family where they have “fun learning the lifelong game of golf and encourage family interaction that builds lasting memories.”

The Town of Aberdeen and Southern Pines both offer family friendly movies through the spring/summer/fall.    Bring your chairs, a picnic basket, and a cooler and enjoy the show!

What started as a joke, is now an annual October event in Aberdeen where they just celebrated their 26th anniversary!  Festival goers enjoy sardines, crackers, Moon Pies, RC Cola and Cokes; and watch as a Sardine Festival Queen is crowned.  Join in the festivities and enjoy a free lunch!

Summer Classic Series at the Sunrise
A favorite in our office, The Sunrise Theater offers a summer long program of classic movies on the big screen.  We have enjoyed favorites like to Catch a Thief, Gentleman Prefer Blondes, Romancing the Stone, and Smokey and The Bandit.  There is nothing like watch a classic on the big screen!
