In 1895 James Walker Tuff purchased 5500 acres of land with a vision of creating a health resort village. The Village was created by Frederick Law Olmsted. Over 226,000 trees and shrubs were planted to create the vision. By the 1900’s his vision included four hotels, 50 cottages, a shooting preserve and of course two excellent golf courses.
According to Golf.com, 2014-2015, Pinehurst #2 course is rated second best course by the consumer! Pinehurst resort has grown to three hotels, spa, sports and leisure facilities, race track, a variety of ethnic restaurants and nine golf courses. The city has so much to offer to residents as well as tourist.
